| 概要 |
社会の急速な発展に伴い，韓国における下水道整備も急速に進み，1995年度には45.7%(71処理場）であった下水道普及率は，1999年度には68.4％（150処理場）に達している。しかし，下水道の普及と共に下水汚泥の発生量も増加し，同じ期間に3,208トン/日から4,364トン/日にまで増大した。多量に発生する下水汚泥は，1990年以前は埋め立て法によって処分されてきたが，その後，海洋投棄処分が多くなり，現在では主流となっている（1999年度には，埋め立て処分法40.2％に対して，海洋投棄処分された下水汚泥は51.5％であった）。しかし，環境保全の観点などから，これらの処分法には問題点も指摘されており，大都市圏を中心に焼却処分法の採用例が増えてきている。また，汚泥の再利用技術の開発も進められている。本稿では，韓国における下水汚泥発生量や処分法の変遷，また，現状の抱える問題点，そして，今後の方向性について解説する。 |
| Abstract |
Along with the rapid social development in Korea, the sewer system had
also expanded quickly to cover 68.4% of the population by the end of 1999.
This, however, resulted in increase in the production of sewage sludge
from 3,208 t/day in 1990 to 4,364 t/day in 1999. Majority of sewage sludge
used to be disposed of by land filling in Korea until 1990. Ocean dumping
has then become the major disposal method in 1990's (51.5 % of sewage sludge
was disposed of by ocean dumping while 40.2 % was by land filling in 1999).
These disposal methods, however, could cause some environmental problems,
and the number of implementation of modern incineration systems is increasing,
especially, in large city areas. Development of technologies for recycling
sewage sludge is also being undertaken. Recent trends of sewage sludge
production and disposal methods, the associated environmental issues and
the future perspectives in Korea are introduced and discussed. |
